Much like Stronghold, Stronghold Crusader is known to run flawlessly in WINE, a compatibility layer available for most Linux systems, such as Arch and Ubuntu, which allows Windows programs to run semi-natively in a Linux environment.
GOG trivia
- For a time, this game showed up in the Windows Add/Remove list as "Stronghold Crusader Extreme". Originally, Crusader Extreme was meant to be release on GOG.com instead and the installer was not updated to reflect the move to Stronghold Crusader.
- Stronghold Crusader received a free product update on November 1, 2012, which added native support for higher screen resolutions. The classic version of the game is included as an optional download.
